Akron Art Museum is joining the #MuseumAtHome campaign via its social networks. In this unprecedented crisis for many of us, the cultural sectors have been forced to change direction so we can continue to enrich your lives. The aim of this campaign is to ensure our visitors that we are still here for them and remain accessible through all social platforms.

We know nothing quite compares to the feeling you get when standing next to a 30-foot canvas with layers of paint and emotion, or the joy in your eyes seeing your family come together for a night of music in our garden. There are, however, countless ways to experience what the Museum has to offer from your own home.

In the coming weeks, we will bring you various new ways to enjoy our treasures. You’ve already seen some fascinating virtual tours of the museum, crossword puzzles, and fun DIY projects, but we’re only getting started!

Each week, we’ll host a collaborative crossword puzzle with clues from institutions around the world. Our partners and the clues will change each week so check back each Thursday and Sunday for that week’s theme — you just might learn something new about your favorite museums too!

On Mondays, we’ll be showing off some of the artwork to adorn our spaces. Our knowledgeable team gives an in-depth look at pieces from current exhibitions as well as our collection. Coming soon, we celebrate Women’s History Month with 5 Women artists. We also get up-close and personal with some pieces as we show off the details, textures and even hidden symbols in some favorite works.

Need something to do with your hands as well as your eyes? We’ve got that too! Each Thursday we’ve got fun DIYs and tutorials — perfect for any skill level. Check out some of the projects we’ve posted about sprucing up your workspace. All inspired by some of the artwork in our collection, of course.

We’ve got more on deck too! Soon, we’ll launch a podcast (we look forward to bringing you more about that in the future weeks) and are working to bring you ways to interact with some of our staff — just from a distance. For now, we look forward to connecting with you on a different level. Check out all social media outlets for more info and to share with your friends!
